In case you missed the post a couple of days ago, here are Sean (5)
and Bryn's (3) drawings of our sweet, furry, very missed Bobo. He was a
BIG dog - 112 lbs. (click for larger views)
Yesterday we finally made it down to the engravers to make Bobo's Kidoodlyrock. The kids have been so excited to do this and I'm so proud of how they're remembering Bobo and how well they've been adjusting to his loss. Sean still says, out loud and out of the blue, "I love you Bobo." It breaks my heart, but it makes me happy too.
We lost our beloved golden retriever on April 28th, so I'm going
through the Kidoodlyrock process with our 3 and 5 year old. So far it
has been very helpful, and even a little bit fun.
What is a Kidoodlyrock? It is a pet grave marker onto which we engrave children's drawings of their pets. Families find the process of creating these stones with their children to be very helplful in healing for everyone, not just the kids. (And we actually have done a few Kidoodlyrocks for adults who enjoy drawing.) There is something about the creative process that can be very instrumental in helping us through difficult emotions.
And here's our beloved Bobo in all of his furriness . . . isn't he purty. He was the best dog ever.
We had fun picking out the stone and watching Gery (the world's best
engraver) get it all prepared with tape for the laser machine.

Then we started with the layout of the stone on the computer screen that gets sent to the laser engraver.
Forever & Infinity is a common phrase in our family when talking about how much we love each other.
You always have to pop some bubbles while waiting, right?

Wow! Is that bread baking in there? It does get pretty hot. Here it comes . . . (click for larger views)

In a couple of days after a few more steps the stone will be ready for us to pick up. We can't wait to share it with you and show you where we decide to place it in our yard.
Thanks for coming with us on this journey.
In love & respect for all living things,
Colleen
