Here are some inexpensive ideas that are big on meaning and easy on the pocketbook.
1) Make a special treasure box with your kids out of a shoe box. Decorate the outside with things from around the house to create a keepsake box that represents the love and personality of your lost pet. Inside you can keep pictures, favorite toys, their collar and any other mementos.
2) Create a memory book with pages of photos and letters written to your lost pet from each family member. Going through the process of writing your words of goodbye is very cathartic and healing.
3) Choose the book that you found most helpful to get you through your grief. Write a dedication to your pet inside the cover and then donate the book to your local library.
4) Knit or crochet a blanket in memory of your pet and donate it to a local shelter to help keep a homeless cat or dog cozy until they find their new forever family.
